Dancing with Fire

Over the years I come back to the importance of doing things purposefully over and over again. I call it practice. Some call it dancing with fire. Whatever it is, the repetition is prayer for me, a way to move through the world stepping into a greater self, a place where fear is dropped and beauty emerges.

I’ve learned some of this from years of praying, gardening, running, and yoga. I’ve learned it also from a number of teachers. Some of my most important ones being my kids. Seeing them play through the years would often bring me back to the power of doing something just for the opportunity of doing it.

A couple of weeks ago, Maribel and I were blessed by this once again, this time from a fully grown-up son who still plays, practices frequently, and always reminds us to flow and move from the beat coming authentically from our hearts.

What is your practice like? Have you thought of developing a movement practice that helps you find your beautiful spacious heart?
