Unexpected Grace

These past couple of months have been tremendously powerful. The day of my accident I met my surgeon, a fellow Yogi. He took an extraordinary amount of time not just to talk with me regarding my surgery, but surprisingly and graciously shared his love of yoga and connection to a tradition that is thousands of years old. In our conversation I felt a deep sense of relief that I was not only in the hands of the head of orthopedics at a top trauma hospital but that my beloved Neem Karoli Baba was there in our midst. I went into surgery and now my recovery sensing that I have always been in God’s loving hands.

Today is Guru Purnima, a day to celebrate our Guru, our teacher. The Guru shows up when we are ready. Their presence does not necessarily change the situation we are in magically; instead, they often shift our attention from limitation to possibility, from despair to a fortitude that facilitates transformation. . Wishing everyone that same presence and grace. Grateful!

A meeting with my surgeon and a reminder of the teacher’s presence and love.
