Belief.

Einstein once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

A couple of days ago I sat at an office party and without any prompting someone came up to me and told me that carbs are an essential part of a healthy diet. They had peaked at my plate and spotted lots of greens, a little bit of protein, and a healthy dose of fat.

My plate did not conform. It invited commentary which  got me thinking of good old Einstein and insanity. The person who came up to me has struggled with weight for some time. I smiled and did not say anything. All I could remember were my love handles when I would eat lots of carbs and the fact that they are gone now that I have limited them. I wasn’t about to lift up my shirt and show them off! (But I thought about it. As we said in our last email, we are real people!)

I share this story with you with a bit of smile because I know for a fact that stories are important! They point to what we believe, and  what we believe determines what we do. Stories can feed and sustain our imaginations or restrict and limit us as we get stuck on our old patterns of belief and action.

As we come to the end of 2015, we invite you to think about what you are going to do in 2016 to help you stay or get in the best possible shape. If what you did last year got you results, keep doing that. If it did not, we encourage you to change your story, reshape your belief, and do something different so that you end up with different results.
