How the Light Gets In

Hi there. The days blend into one and it seems like we’ve all been in isolation for a very long time. All of us are having to reinvent what it means to live our lives in a meaningful way, especially as we find ourselves constrained by our new normal. Yesterday I happened to pass by Maribel’s bootcamp class. She had 10 or 12 people on Zoom with her. What I saw was not just someone who loves to teach and help people but someone doing her best to show up and extend her reach, now from her porch. She reminded me of something important.

Wherever you might be right now, know that all of us have something to offer each other. Sometimes that offering is the visible work of someone at the cash register at the grocery store, the medical staff helping people survive the complications brought about by the virus, the personal trainer offering classes online, the abuelita saying her prayers. All human activity dedicated for the good of others is a necessary and wonderful offering.

If you are finding it increasingly difficult to hold this pattern of isolation, take heart. Find your imperfect offering. Don’t hold back. A simple act of kindness and care can go a long way, even without stepping foot outside of your house. That’s how the light gets in.

Here’s the link to join Maribel on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at her bootcamp. She has something to offer your body and soul.
