Yoga for the Eyes and Face

Yoga for the eyes and face is not completely accurate. There’s no real way we can divide yoga for a particular body part. The word yoga itself means union. The body can’t really be divided into parts as we would a car or some sort of machine.

Because of that, anything that we do to an area of the body will have effects throughout our whole system. This is a powerful insight we can use to work with ourselves, where we are without waiting for some time in the future where we may be more fit, more capable, more…whatever.

Now is a great moment we can practice. The short practice in the video focuses on the face. I invite you to try this 10-minute practice and see how you feel at the end. You may notice that the relaxation you experience in the face translates to a releasing of tension throughout the body.

Once again, this is a simple practice that can help reset your nervous system. When we are in a flight or fight mode, bringing ourselves back to connection comes through the top part of the body, especially the face. Relaxing this area not only signals to others that we are not our resting bitch face, but it signals to ourselves that we can move toward greater ease, letting go of what may be burdening us.
