I recorded this morning yoga practice to give a behind the scene look at what a regular yoga at 55 looks like for me. I have some limitations with my right arm and definitely noticing the changes that come with growing up. I share this because my practice may not look like the Instagram yoga… Continue reading Can you start a yoga practice later in life?

Can your early life stresses affect your current health?
I came across the article at the end of this post this morning. It describes findings that early life stress has effects on overall health later in life. (Epigenetics looks at how our environment affects how our genes manifest in our bodies.) An epigenetic pathway related to early life stress was identified and could inhibited with… Continue reading Can your early life stresses affect your current health?
Breathing and Moving and the Nervous System
Background The autonomic nervous system regulates body processes such as blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing. It works without the need for conscious effort. We can, however, intentionally work with our nervous system to alleviate suffering and maximize potential growth and development. The breath and movement practices we do on Monday and Thursday are grounded… Continue reading Breathing and Moving and the Nervous System
We are not on our own
Hi there. I hope that as you bump into this little post you are feeling well and sensing a bit of joy and pleasure or a lot of joy and pleasure. This video was from about two weeks ago. Can yoga help with heigthened anxiety due to COVID-19?
I’ve been meaning to share this page for a couple of weeks now. It’s an announcement for an eight-week research study on whether meditation and yoga can alleviate pandemic induced anxiety and depression. I don’t know what the results of the study will be, but I can say that the challenges of this past year… Continue reading Can yoga help with heigthened anxiety due to COVID-19?
Play and Gratitude Valentine’s Day Edition
Hi everyone. I hope you had a good weekend. Yesterday we celebrated Valentine’s Day. Maribel and I went to the beach and saw the sunrise. It was wonderful to hold hands and feel the ocean breeze on our faces. Although we had a great day, I feel conflicted about these holidays. Often they lead to… Continue reading Play and Gratitude Valentine’s Day Edition

“When you sit, you use less energy than you do when you stand or move. Research has linked sitting for long periods of time with a number of health concerns. They include obesity and a cluster of conditions — increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels… Continue reading Could it be that sitting is the new smoking?
Finding Comfort and Ease
We had a front pass through this morning and the sky is absolutely beautiful in Miami right now. May we all partake in that clarity! I wanted to share last Thursday’s yoga class with everyone. If you did not make it, here’s a chance to practice on your own. The intention of the class addresses… Continue reading Finding Comfort and Ease
Yoga and heart health?
Hi everyone. How are you doing this afternoon?
I just finished teaching and starting to prep for tonight’s yoga session. I love ending the day practicing with you.
Although we may not get our hearts pumping very fast while we practice every Monday and Thursday night, stretching the body and breath control impact much more than just the muscles and fascia being stretched. The body is a unified expression of life. All is connected. Yoga’s benefits are innumerable.
I look forward to seeing you there. If you can’t make it, I’ll record the session and post it once I process the video.Don’t forget to invite a friend.
Your patronage keeps the class open for everyone.
See you in a little bit.
